Neuberger Berman, an investment management firm, chose Rockland Homes For Heroes for their annual Celebration with Service volunteering event, which gives back to the community. A large group of volunteers showed up to do the laborious work of digging a drainage trench and laying out piping. No less strenuous was the work of weeding and mulching to prepare the perimeter of the Veteran housing for planting done by another set of eager Neuberger Berman volunteers.
After a long day of giving back, Neuberger Berman’s volunteers joined several of our Veterans now living at Rockland Homes For Heroes for an impromptu picnic. Laura Steinberger, Senior Vice President of Neuberger
Berman, who helped with the volunteering, was moved by our Veterans, who “openly shared their inspiring stories of service and hardship, of making a new start and pursuing their educations with help from Rockland Homes for Heroes.”
With 1 in 5 homeless in America being Veterans, even one homeless Veteran is too many. Rockland Homes for Heroes is grateful that the men and women of Neuberger Berman selected to help our valiant heroes who sacrificed for our nation’s freedom and now need a second chance.
