Announcing the GRAND OPENING of the Rockland Homes for Heroes Hospitality Center on May 9th at 11:00 AM. A long labor of love, the dedicated volunteers of Habitat for Humanity have completed a top to bottom, inside to outside refurbishment of an old building to create a much-needed hospitality gathering spot for the growing Rockland Homes for Heroes development.
Please come join us as we dedicate the building with:
•A Time Capsule
•An Historic Marker commemorating the role of this site during WWII as the largest port of embarkation in history, where 1.3 million GI’s sailed to fight Nazis on D-Day. After WWII, it was used as a NIKE Missile Base Headquarters, an Army Reserve Headquarters, and now a living memorial in use by “HOMES FOR HEROES,” permanent rental garden apartments for displaced and disabled honorably discharged Veterans.
